Headed To A Stokes Interview? 4 Tips To Help You And Your Spouse Pass

The point of a Stokes interview is not to prove that you are the perfect couple or that you have the perfect marriage. The point of a Stokes interview is to prove to the immigration officer that you have a true marriage that is not built on lies. You need to prove to the officer that you know each other inside and out. The best way to do this is to observe your spouse ahead of time. Here are four tips to help you successfully prepare for your interview so that you can both pass:

Patterns Matter, So Pay Attention.

Do you know what time your spouse normally arrives home from school or work? Who normally cooks dinner or does laundry? Who picks up the children from school and/or takes them to extracurricular activities? What does a typical Monday or Saturday look like in your lives? If you can't answer these questions, it is important to start watching each other and figure out how to answer them before the interview.

Get to Know the Household Finances.

It is important that you are both familiar with the household finances, even if just one of you typically takes care of paying the bills. How are bills paid – with checks or online? Make sure that you know whose names the bills are in and what services you use.

Pull Out Old Photos.

There's a good chance that the interviewer will ask you questions about how you met, your first date, your restaurant preferences and even your favorite foods and beverages. So, it doesn't hurt to pull out old photos, scrapbooks, etc. that may take you and your spouse down memory lane. The more you can remember, the better off you will be in the interview.

Take the Time to Talk to One Another.

Life can often get in the way of things and you may not have all the time in the world to sit down and really talk. You two may have grown apart recently. However, in the weeks leading up to the Stokes interview, it is very important that you talk more frequently so that you know more about one another. Ask questions if there is something that you want to know another the other person. This is the only way you'll find out something.
